Best Tablets For Playing Minecraft & Gaming
What are the best game tablets for playing Minecraft & Games?
And are there good tablets for casual gamers?
I have been testing tablets since 2008 and try out not only simple games like Minecraft or Cuphead on all devices, but also very demanding ones like PUBG Mobile and Fortnite.
You can find my test winners in this list. They are the best game tablets for gamers in all price ranges.
I have sorted the toplist by operating system.
Above you find the best iPads for gamers and below the best Android tablets.
Although you can play on many Windows Tablets Games, I can’t recommend them especially for gamers.
They are more suitable for office work. If you want to do that anyway, you can find the best Windows Tablets in our Office Tablet test.
Well, I can recommend the following tablets for Minecraft and Gamers.
Test Results: Best Tablets For Playing Minecraft & Gaming
If you are looking for a tablet for games, I think you should definitely look at iPads.
For iOS there is a very large selection of games, which are often better optimized.
Of course there are also many Android tablets that are very suitable for gamers.
I can recommend them mainly if you have an Android smartphone.
And also if you want to save some money.
In this part of the toplist I have some very cheap but excellent tablets.
Best iPad for Minecraft & Gaming: Apple iPad Pro
- Amazing screen in a small body
- Unrivaled Gaming Performance for Minecraft & Co.
- Excellent speakers
- Typing is easy on the Smart Keyboard
- No USB-C storage device support
Best Performing Tablet in Best Tablets for Minecraft & Games
The Apple iPad Pro is undisputedly the best gaming tablet on the market. Especially playing Minecraft is absolutely amazing on this device.
Due to the Apple A12X Bionic Processor it is more powerful than any other device on this list.
At the same time it offers very chic 11 inch or 12.9 inch displays and four very good speakers that make gaming even better.
I have played a lot of Minecraft and PUBG Mobile on the iPad Pro and both can be played smoothly with the highest graphics settings.
The only negative thing is that the Pro can get very warm.
This is simply because a very performant chipset sits in a very thin metal case.
Nevertheless, the performance is simply great.
Excellent ergonomics for the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
The Apple iPad Pro appeals especially to those who want to use their tablet in creative and professional applications.
In the test, it delivers very good results in all categories, especially the display and the performance can hardly be surpassed.
More about that later, first a few words about the look.
The iPad Pro 2020 is reminiscent of Apple’s iPhones from series X on:
The iconic home button is missing, but the gesture control known from the iPhones as well as the FaceID technology is available.
The display edges are considerably wider than on the iPhones, but the iPad Pro doesn’t have a notch at the top edge of the display.
The iPad Pro is housed in a high-quality aluminium case.
There are no sharp edges or corners. Two sizes are available: 11 and 12.9 inches.
The colors are silver and gray. The iPad Pro is available with or without an LTE module and with an internal memory of 64 GByte, 256 GByte, 512 GByte or 1 TByte.
The introductory prices for the smallest version are a lavish 1,000 Dollar (or 1,199 Dollar for the LTE version) and climb up to 2,000 Dollar for the 1 TByte model.
In our test we refer to the variant with LTE and 256 GByte storage space.
It is 280 mm high, 214 mm wide and pleasantly thin with a thickness of 8.3 mm.
Only the protruding camera on the back could disturb the handling.
Excellent 120 Hz display for the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
With a screen diagonal of 12.9 inches, the iPad Pro 2020 is one of the largest tablets in the test field and invites you to edit photos or multitask with several apps.
The IPS panel in 4:3 format has a resolution of 2,732 x 2,048 pixels and supports HDR10 and DolbyVision.
A highlight: the refresh rate is, like its predecessor, at an extremely fluid 120 Hertz.
The difference to conventional displays with 60 hertz is particularly noticeable when scrolling through websites or photos – here the motion sequences appear much smoother.
A further advantage is revealed in combination with the Apple Pencil, which is available separately: the minimal input delay of around 20 milliseconds is practically imperceptible; handwritten text appears immediately on the display.
With up to 642 candelas per square meter (cd/m²), the panel turns out enormously bright and the contrast values in direct (16.9:1) and diffuse (85:1) ambient light are also significantly higher than in other tablets on our best list.
This becomes noticeable, for example, when you work outdoors on the iPad Pro.
Content is easier to read due to strong contrasts.
As far as colors are concerned, there is no reason for criticism.
Both the standard RGB as well as the large DCI-P3 color space are comprehensively covered and pictures are displayed with natural and rich colors.
Performance at its best for the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
If you want your tablet to be fast and smooth to handle, you won’t be disappointed.
The performance is more than sufficient for games or editing 4K videos with Apple’s A12X bionic processor and supporting 4 GByte RAM.
There are no jerking or long loading times here.
This is also shown by our laboratory measurements: In the benchmark test, 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme Unlimited, the device scores an excellent 9,507 points and thus sets a new best value.
In comparison: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 achieves 6,015 points, the Huawei Media Pad T5 even only 478. Our self-created test PDF renders the iPad Pro 2020 in a fast 3 seconds, also a best value.
And finally, the iPad Pro runs hopelessly away in the GFX Bench with Apple-optimized Metal API for competing games.
In combination with the new gestures, which are also known since the iPhone X, the handling is fun and very intuitive.
In our battery test, the iPad Pro with a 9.720 mAh battery lasts almost 13 hours of uninterrupted video playback.
With continuous surfing it’s almost 11 hours.
That is a very good result.
The charging time is not spectacular with about three and a half hours, but it’s okay.
Unlike the iPhone 11 generation, Apple has a USB type C port.
This is practical, because with iPadOS 13, not only monitors and cameras can now be connected, but also hard drives and USB sticks.
FaceID in any orientation
On the back of the iPad Pro is a camera with optical image stabilizer and with a resolution of 12 megapixels known from iPhones.
Apple’s Smart HDR has also made it onto the iPad Pro.
This is supposed to make the pictures more detailed, as several exposure levels are combined to one shot.
On the front is a 7 megapixel front camera.
This allows FaceID to unlock the device via face recognition.
The unlock function works both upright and sideways and is as pleasantly fast and reliable as on the iPhones.
However, simply lifting the iPad is not enough; the display must be tapped briefly before using Face ID.
If the camera is inadvertently covered with your finger, iOS sends a message.
New features include a portrait mode with background blur and portrait light.
The latter allows various lighting effects, such as “stage light”, where the background is displayed in black.
Apple’s Animoji and Memoji are also available for fun creation of funny characters (or by yourself).
The iPad Pro records video in 4K at up to 60 frames per second.
In comparison, the images from the iPad camera are among the best in the test – here Apple is currently only competing with itself.
Equipment with few gaps
The equipment of the iPad Pro 12.9 leaves hardly any wishes unfulfilled.
In the LTE version, 1 Gigabit per second downstream is theoretically possible.
However, this is currently only a theoretical advantage, as LTE in Germany has a peak of around 500 MBit/s.
Apple has converted the LTE versions to the eSIM familiar from the new iPhones.
But a nano-SIM card can still be used. However, there is no dual-SIM function like on the new iPhones.
The new iPad supports fast AC-WLAN and the current Bluetooth standard 5.0.
The four speakers deliver a good, spatial sound. This is fun when you watch movies or listen to music without headphones.
Speaking of headphones: There was no room left in the iPad Pro 12.9 for a classic 3.5 mm headphone jack – too bad.
If you don’t want to operate the tablet with your finger alone, you can use the Apple Pencil 2 as a stylus for about 120 Dollar (by the way, it’s not compatible with the older models).
The matching Apple Smart Keyboard, which also serves as a tablet case, costs about 220 Dollar – a proud price for mere accessories.
After all, the new keyboard protects the entire back of the tablet and looks more stable than before.
This is practical if you have it on your lap in the plane or at university.
The new Apple Pencil 2 holds magnetically to the frame of the iPad and charges wirelessly.
In addition, it now also reacts to touch: if you hold the pen and tap it twice on the side with your finger, you can automatically switch between applications.
Verdict: Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
In the test, the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 LTE (2020) particularly impressed with an excellent display with 120 hertz and a first-class performance, which makes it the best tablet for Minecraft and other games.
Unlike the iPhone 11 generation, Apple has a USB type C port.
This is practical, the charging time isn’t spectacular, but it’s okay.
The high prices for the tablet and accessories are more worthy of criticism.
Overall, however, the iPad Pro 12.9 is a powerful tablet with smooth handling and a very good battery life.
2nd Best iPad for Minecraft: iPad Air
- Hundreds of Dollars cheaper than the iPad Pro
- Large high-res Retina display
- A12 chip is blazing fast
- Great battery life
- No Face ID
2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
The Apple iPad Air is a great alternative to the iPad Pro if you want to save some money & do not need the best tablet for minecraft and gaming.
Although the A12 processor is slightly weaker than the A12X, this is almost only noticeable in benchmarks and when rendering videos.
The gaming performance of the iPad Air is currently as good as the Pro.
You might only notice differences after one or two years, when games become more demanding.
So you can save a lot of money with the Air. But you also have to accept some sacrifices.
For example, the 10.5 inch display is great, but slightly darker than on the Pro.
It also has only two instead of four speakers. Nevertheless, the workmanship is very high quality.
Apple iPad Air 3 64GB in test: As usual high quality display and case
Even after unpacking, the Apple iPad Air 3 makes its usual high-quality impression: only a good six millimetres thick and completely encased in metal, the iPad is comfortable to hold.
On the front, in addition to the display, there is a fingerprint sensor and the front camera.
However, the display edges are quite wide – for instance in comparison to the Galaxy Tab S6.
On the back, next to the large Apple logo, there is the main camera and a microphone.
If you hold the device in portrait format, the Lightning port and dual speakers are located on the bottom.
The power button, another microphone and the headphone jack are located on the upper side.
On the left is the docking port for the keyboard and on the right are the volume buttons.
The display of iPad Air 3 has a screen diagonal of 10.5 inches.
The IPS screen in Apple’s well-known 4:3 format has a resolution of 2,224 x 1,668 pixels and thus reaches a pixel density of 265 ppi.
We found the resolution pleasant in practice and the picture sharpness is completely ok.
The maximum brightness of the screen is 516 cd/m².
Thus, the panel is quite bright and easily readable in almost all situations.
It doesn’t come close to the brightness of its big brother, the iPad Pro, though.
The iPad Air 3 also doesn’t have the refresh rate of 120 hertz of the big model.
iPad Air 3 shows very strong gaming performance in the test
Inside the iPad Air 3 is the latest Apple A12 Bionic Processor.
It has six cores and clocks with a maximum of 2.49 gigahertz.
This CPU is paired with three gigabytes of RAM.
Thanks to the skilful interaction of hardware and software from Apple, the iPad is right at the top in terms of performance.
The operation is consistently smooth and jerk-free, as one is used to from current iPads.
The iPad masters everyday tasks as well as complex games and editing high-resolution videos with ease.
At no time does the device become uncomfortably warm.
Photos are fine, but nothing more
The iPad Air 3 captures images and videos via a single camera on the back or a single front camera.
The main camera has a resolution of eight megapixels and is optically stabilized.
However, an LED flash is missing. The main camera records videos with a maximum of 30 frames per second at a resolution of Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080).
The front camera has a resolution of seven megapixels and also records videos with a maximum of Full-HD and 30 frames per second.
The pictures of the main camera have a reasonably decent quality.
Only when the light conditions decrease does the iPad have a hard time taking low-noise and detailed pictures.
Selfies are okay and can be posted on social media channels, but they don’t set any records in terms of image quality.
The iPad Air 3 doesn’t come close to the quality of top cameras in current smartphones – the same goes for any other tablet we’ve tested so far.
It takes a long time to load for the 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
The battery capacity of iPad Air 3 is 8,134 mAh.
Thus, in our test, the iPad achieves a runtime of about twelve hours with constant video playback.
The tablet manages about 14 hours in a typical use.
These are excellent runtime values. Thus, a whole day of use should be at least in it.
The iPad Air 3 256 GB LTE, also tested by us, doesn’t last quite as long.
A power adapter with an output power of almost 11 watts is included.
With this power supply, the iPad needs a whole 4:39 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent.
Accordingly, it’s not surprising that only 14 percent is charged after half an hour of charging time.
That definitely takes too long. If you want to achieve a faster charging time, you’ll have to buy a more powerful power supply from Apple separately.
Newest hardware, old design
The iPad Air 3 comes with iOS 12.4 pre-installed at the time of testing.
This will soon be replaced by the first version of iPad OS.
The rest of the data sheet reads almost identical to previous iPads, except that one or two hardware parts have been improved: 64 gigabytes of non-expandable memory, of which about 58 gigabytes are free at the beginning.
A headphone port and a Lightning port are available, as well as current WLAN-ac and Bluetooth 5.0. NFC hasn’t been built in, and the iPad isn’t water and dust resistant either.
In addition, the classic home button still offers Touch ID, although Face ID has not yet found its way onto the Air 3.
Otherwise, the iPad Air 3 offers all the usual specifications and meets all expectations.
Unfortunately, the unique selling point or a moment of surprise is missing a bit.
Some might miss a groundbreaking innovation in their Apple product, while others might be happy about an excellent tablet.
Verdict: 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
For around 500 Dollar, the iPad Air 3 is available in its lowest configuration with 64 gigabytes of memory and without LTE. It comes in a typical metal case, is of high quality and works very fast. The picture quality is also great. However, the lack of innovations, a unique selling point compared to its iPad siblings and the large display edges on the front do not necessarily give the buyer the feeling of holding a really new tablet from Apple in his hand. Moreover, the non-expandable memory of 64 gigabytes in the start configuration is quite tight.
Best Android Tablet for Minecraft: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
- Fast Gaming performance
- Powerful speakers
- S Pen and Samsung Notes are useful
- BookCover Keyboard has a touchpad
- Excellent cameras
- DeX mode still feels unfinished
Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games in the Android Category
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is currently the most powerful Android tablet on the market and therefore it is also the best Android tablet for games and the best tablet for Minecraft.
It offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Octa-Core processor with 6 to 8GB RAM, which is also strong enough for games like Fortnite.
It also has a chic 10.5 inch Super AMOLED display.
Useful for gamers are also the four speakers on the sides.
The tablet has some more premium features like a fingerprint reader and S Pen support.
In fact, the stylus is included for free. Optionally, you can also get it with a keyboard cover.
Android 9 Pie is installed ex works with the One UI, so it is also up to date in terms of software.
Negative is again the price. The Galaxy Tab S6 is usually very expensive.
At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 strongly reminds of its predecessor Tab S5e.
It is the same size (245 x 159 mm), the OLED screen measures 10.5 inches diagonally again and the battery capacity hasn’t changed at all.
It’s different in terms of performance for the best tablet for Minecraft. But more about that later.
First a few words about the look.
Chic and practical: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 with new S-Pen function
The Galaxy Tab S6 looks very noble in its aluminium housing in a choice of grey, blue or rosé.
The workmanship is excellent, sharp edges aren’t noticeable and corners have been pleasantly rounded off.
In addition, the Tab S6 has a very simple haptic appearance with a thickness of 5.7 mm and a weight of 421 grams and thus lies well in the hand.
In 16:10 format, it is easy to use – whether with your hands or with the corresponding BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) S-Pen.
The S-Pen functions on the Tab S6 as a writing or drawing instrument for notes as well as a remote control.
With certain gestures (the so-called S-pen air actions) you can operate the tablet without touching it.
To do this, you must hold down the button on the S-pen.
For example, you can take photos and videos in the camera app, and you can change the recording mode with a wipe gesture. You can also play music and adjust the volume.
The tablet reacts even if the pen is not held directly in front of the tablet.
Handy for taking notes: Handwritten notes can be exported to formats such as Microsoft Word with just one click. You can also write notes while watching a video, for example.
The S-Pen charges wirelessly on the back of the tablet.
According to Samsung, the 0.35 mAh battery should allow up to 11 hours of battery life after ten minutes of charging. Enough for many hours playing Minecraft on tablet.
For the first time with an integrated fingerprint scanner.
The OLED display of the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
Like its predecessor, the Tab S6 has an excellent OLED display with 10.5 inches diagonal.
The display has a WQXGA resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with a pixel density of 288 ppi.
The sharpness is still okay, but other tablets such as Apple’s iPad Pro (2020) offer more in this respect.
Colours and contrasts are good. We measured a checkerboard contrast value of 144:1.
You can see HDR content in its full color and dynamic range because the relevant DCI-P3 color space is covered by the S6 tab to 97 percent.
In addition, it shines with a maximum of 541 cd/m², which should cause users little problems outdoors in sunlight.
We measured here with 50 percent white in the test image.
The Galaxy Tab S6 can’t offer a particularly smooth refresh rate of 120 hertz, as it did on the iPad Pro (2020), but it does have another practical feature in stock: an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Samsung brings this to a tablet for the first time with the Galaxy Tab S6.
However, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, it is not based on ultrasound technology, but works via an optical sensor.
The reaction time is excellent – just like with the face unblocking. To activate it, simply tap twice on the display.
The new performance sensation
The Galaxy Tab S6 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 eight-core processor.
The latest model clocks at up to 2.8 GHz. Together with the generous main memory of 6 or 8 GByte RAM, the performance increase over the predecessor is enormous.
As the benchmarks show, Samsung’s flagship tablet is the Android device with the best performance. The app loading times are considerably shorter:
Our self-created test PDF opens the Galaxy Tab S6 in only 5 seconds.
For comparison: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e needed 8 seconds for this and also leaves Huawei’s Android tablet competition clearly behind, which shows vs the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games.
In PC-Mark for Android it reaches 10,203 points, in 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme Unlimited it reaches 6,015 points – both are remarkable results.
Only in the graphics benchmark GFXBench it can’t keep up with the current iPads with an A12 processor:
Here Apple is almost 70 percent in the lead.
Android 9 Pie is installed.
The security patch was up to date at the time of testing at the end of July of July 1, 2020 – so it was very up-to-date.
Dual camera with ultra-wide angle function
The Galaxy Tab S6 comes with two cameras on the back for the first time.
The 13-megapixel main camera is joined by an ultra-wide angle camera with 5 megapixels.
This allows users to capture motifs with a viewing angle of 123 degrees.
This is particularly suitable for group or landscape photos.
The photo quality is good as usual. The front camera takes pictures as with the Tab S4 with 8 megapixels – that’s enough for spontaneous selfies.
You can shoot videos in 4K with up to 30 frames per second, with the front camera video recordings are only possible in Full-HD.
Battery: Strong performance for the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
Our test model lasted 8:41 hours with a capacity of 7,040 mAh in the scroll endurance test at medium brightness (200 cd/m²).
The S6 tab ran for 12:54 hours in continuous video rendering (1080p) at medium brightness.
This is roughly on par with its predecessors and should get you through the day without any problems even with intensive use.
In our “real” usage scenario, in which apps (emails, FB) open automatically, pictures are edited and breaks are inserted, the Tab S6 even lasts 14:23 hours.
A loading process takes 2:55 hours. After half an hour, the S6 tab is already 29 percent loaded – this is currently the best value we have measured.
Bold sound thanks to Dolby Atmos for the Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
The Galaxy Tab S6 is available with either 128 or 256 GByte internal memory.
However, the memory can be expanded as usual by up to 1 TByte per microSD slot.
The Samsung tablet also has a USB 3.1 interface. WLAN-ac and the current Bluetooth 5.0 standard are on board.
As usual, the Galaxy Tab S6 is available in the LTE version with 4G support (Cat. 20) and in the WLAN version.
GPS is also available as standard. An NFC interface for contactless payments was once again not installed – but this is missing on almost all tablet models.
Samsung’s DeX feature for easy connection of an external screen, keyboard and mouse is available again.
With the special book-cover keyboard (available for an additional 180 Dollar), you can start and close DeX by tapping a key.
In addition, the keyboard now has a pen holder, angle stand and touchpad.
Four AKG loudspeakers and Dolby Atmos certification ensure a spatial, excellent sound.
However, you have to do without the classic headphone jack.
Galaxy Tab S6: Not a bargain
As usual, the Galaxy Tab S6 is in the upper price segment at its introduction.
Samsung charges 749 Dollar for the Wi-Fi variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory.
Contrary to previous assumptions, an LTE version is also available in this memory variant for 819 Dollar.
We received this version as a test device from Samsung.
The larger LTE version with 8 GByte RAM and 256 GByte internal memory costs 899 Dollar.
Only in the Samsung shop will you find the Tab S6 with LTE in blue and rosé. Special:
Customers will receive Spotify Premium for three months and Youtube Premium for four months free of charge.
The following accessories will also be available for the Tab S6 from the end of August:
- Cover: 69.90 Dollar RRP
- Keyboard: 179,90 Dollar RRP
- S-Pen: 59,90 Dollar RRP (is however already included in the delivery).
Verdict: Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games in Android Tablets
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is at the top of our bestseller list with a great performance and a powerful 10.5 inch OLED display.
The Tab S6 also comes with practical new features:
In addition to an in-display fingerprint sensor and a second wide-angle camera, the associated S-pen enables gesture control that requires no touch.
All in all, the Galaxy Tab S6 offers a lot at the quite high price of around 750 or 900 Dollar.
2nd Best Android Tablet for Minecraft & Games: Samsung Galaxy Tab S4
- Beautiful, sharp display
- Good camera for a tablet
- PC desktop-like Dex interface
- Samsung S-Pen is included
- Snapdragon 835 with awesome performance for Minecraft
- Dex touchscreen detection is off
2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games in Android Tablets
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is a slightly cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Tab S6.
Although it is one year older, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 still performs very well in 2020.
Very demanding games like Fortnite &Minecraft can run, but of course not quite as well as on the newer S6.
Therefore I can recommend the Galaxy Tab S4 mainly if you can save some money and find good offers.
The exciting thing is that it has the same 10.5 inch AMOLED display and the same speakers as the S6.
The S Pen is also included.
It doesn’t have a fingerprint reader, but it does have an iris scanner.
An update to Android 9 has already been released.
Android tablets have it hard, the iPad from Apple towers above it all.
In a stagnating market that is losing more and more importance due to XXL smartphones with gigantic displays.
Also because the open Android system has to struggle with non-adapted apps and inconsistent standards.
Apple’s closed iOS cosmos has it much easier with uniform display sizes and technology.
But Samsung wants to know it again with the new Galaxy Tab S4 and packs in all the high-end technology that the South Koreans have in their labs. TTR has sent this to the lab for testing.
Galaxy Tab S4: 1A display and mega sound for the 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
Visually, the design hardly differs from its predecessor Tab S3:
The back is made of noble and thanks to gorilla glass technology scratch-resistant glass, the side edges are made of aluminium.
Very noble, but also a magnet for fingerprints.
The S4 almost looks like a huge S9 smartphone.
As you know, this has set a new trend with its infinity display including 18.5:9 format.
More screen, less frame is the motto, which has now also arrived in the tablet world.
That’s why the Samsung logo and a fingerprint sensor, which gives way to the well-functioning iris scanner, are missing on the front.
With 79 percent of the screen area, the Tab S4 now offers a huge 10.5 inch screen in a long 16:10 format with a high 2K resolution (2560×1600 pixels), contributing to the award 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games.
The predecessor came to 9.7 inches in the classic 4:3 format with almost identical dimensions.
Thus, the latest Samsung tablet is much better suited for movies and series.
Also thanks to the (AM)OLED panel, which offers particularly high contrasts (10,000:1), rich colors (color fidelity: 92 percent) and high luminosity (469.7 candelas).
In comparison to Apple’s equally larger iPad Pro 10.5, it clearly has the edge here.
If you want to annoy your fellow men, turn up the four AKG speakers.
Thanks to Dolby Atmos, the Tab S4 produces an impressive sound that seems almost spatial when you hold it in your hands.
Galaxy Tab S4: The S-Pen is available free of charge
Also back on board: Samsung’s S-Pen. Unlike the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro, the stylus comes with every Tab S4, but in the new edition it is now completely round and slightly larger.
It recognises 4,096 pressure levels and in the test reacted precisely and without much delay to the scribble.
Optionally, a keyboard with a good keystroke is also available for 150 Dollar, which activates the DEX surface known from the S9 when connected through the so-called pogo port.
Thus, the view changes from the classic Android look to a PC-like surface.
It’s also possible to connect to an external monitor via USB-C adapter, which for example expands the desktop in a sensible way and turns the S4 tab into a real work machine.
Also only available for an additional charge: the charging dock for 60 Dollar.
With the table stand, the S4 can be transformed into a smart display, which shows not only favorite pictures but also the weather and should also support the control of smart home devices in the future.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S4: Strong Performance for the 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games
The Tab S4 also belongs to the crème de la crème of tablets under the stylish glass.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 fired the top smartphones in 2018 – and now, together with 4 gigabytes of memory, the Samsung giant.
The speed is therefore incredibly high: 4K films, many apps opened in parallel or even 3D racing games only demand a tired smile from the S4 – if it could smile.
The memory capacity doubles to 64 gigabytes of internal storage.
Of this, 49.4 gigabytes can really be used. If you need more, simply use a microSD in the existing memory card slot.
This is especially recommended for long series marathons, as the battery will not run out of power so quickly.
The energy dispenser reaches a lush 7,300 milliampere-hours in the Tab S4 and needed eight hours and 31 minutes of intensive use in the test until the curfew.
It comes to a good 25 hours with little use. With the increased battery life, the South Koreans also iron out the biggest weakness of the predecessor, which only reached six hours.
Reasonable: Due to the quick charging function, the tablet is at full power again after a good three and a half hours.
The cameras (7 megapixels at the front, 13 at the back) have also been improved and deliver respectable snapshots – in case you really want to take photos or make movies with a tablet.
As operating system, Samsung uses Android 8.1 Oreo with the usual surface modification and an optionally adjustable child mode.
Verdict: 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games in Android Tablets
Take a huge 10.5-inch display with great OLED colors and a narrow frame.
Add a stylish design with strong hardware from smartphone flagships and garnish it all with a drawing pen and optional keyboard that turns the Android interface into a PC – and you have a really tasty device.
Or put simply: the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is a crazy tablet without any major weaknesses.
Well, if it weren’t for the high retail price – and still not for an Android corset that fits perfectly for a tablet.
In the end, Apple’s iPad still has the nose (slightly) ahead – at least in this discipline.
All in all the S4 is the 2nd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games in the Android Tablet segment.
3rd Best Android Tablet for Minecraft & Gamers: Huawei MediaPad M5 8
- Bundled stylus
- Sharp, attractive display
- Decent battery life
- Awkward power/volume buttons
- Older Kirin chipset
3rd Best Tablet for Minecraft & Games (Android)
The Huawei MediaPad M5 8 is almost as powerful as the Galaxy Tab S4, making it the best 8 inch Android tablet for gamers.
Games like PUBG Mobile & Minecraft run smoothly and look chic on the high-resolution 8 inch display.
It has only two speakers, but they are very good for an 8 inch tablet.
Other premium features include a fingerprint scanner and a high-quality metal casing.
An update to Android 9 has also already been released.
The MediaPad M5 8 is also exciting because it is partly offered at a very low price.
The US-China trade war is certainly to blame for this.
