Ranking First: Nyrius Aries Pro Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver
- Great portability
- Best quality
- Cinematic sound experience
- Easy to use
- Not the cheapest solution
- For regular users
Best Wireless Monitor System
The Nyrius Aries Pro is the more expensive version of the Nyrius Aries Prime and also the Best Wireless Monitor System. But it is a great solution as a wireless monitor adpater. The higher price is due to the fact that the Prime version supports audio quality up to 7.1. It’s very similar in design to other HDMI adpaters. It has two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output and a USB power supply (no cable included here either).
The device proved itself well in all our tests. It uses the so-called GigaXtreme technology, which works similar to WHDI. This mechanism ensures extreme solid transmission rates. No walls will be a barrier to your movie night. The Aries Pro supports uncompressed 7.1 PCM (pulse modulation method), DTS (multi-channel sound system) and Dolby Digital surround sound.
Many users report that they are extremely satisfied with the transmitted fram-rate and overall graphics quality and sound experience. That’s why it won our Best Wireless Monitor System award.
Final Verdict: Best Wireless Monitor System
Of course, for people who do not care about sound quality the Aries Home version is also fine. But if you can spare the extra 70$ for the Pro version you should not hesitate to get it. It makes movie nights that much more enjoyable, if you do not get angry about bad sound quality. We can definitely recommend the Aries Pro and it won our test decisively.

3rd Best Wireless Monitor System
What is better than a monitor? That’s right, two monitors! With the Asus ZenScreen MB16AC, Asus offers a portable 15.6 inch monitor that receives the image signal via a USB C port making this solution the 3rd Best Wireless Monitor System. In some situations a second monitor can be helpful, for example for better multitasking or to hold a presentation. The Asus ZenScreen MB16AC is supposed to be suitable for just such purposes and can be connected to almost any notebook via USB-C cable.
Design & workmanship of the 3rd Best Wireless Monitor System
The Asus ZenScreen MB16AC already leaves a high-quality impression during unpacking, which is primarily due to the aluminum back. It reminds of the notebooks of the Zen series with its concentric design. The monitor weighs 740 grams without a case and is only 8 millimeters high. So it already keeps its portability promise!
On the left side of the ZenScreen MB16AC, a USB-C port is integrated in the frame, which is the only connection possibility. It thus also serves as a power source, meaning that the monitor is supplied with images and energy from the notebook.
The lower frame on the front is also made of aluminum and accommodates two control buttons on the left side. The power button and a hole are located on the right side. The hole can be used to set up the portable monitor by inserting a pin through it.
A foldable transport case is also included in the scope of delivery, with which the monitor can also be set up. The case and the monitor are held together securely by magnets. The cover allows the monitor to be set up at two different angles.
Great quality for the 3rd Best Wireless Monitor System.
Technology & image quality of the 3rd Best Wireless Monitor System
The screen has a diagonal of 15.6 inches and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Asus has decided on an IPS panel that offers good color rendering and high viewing angles.
The monitor’s image quality is convincing throughout. The average maximum brightness is also higher than Asus’ 220 cd/m² with 254 cd/m², which we measured. However, the screen is only conditionally suitable for outdoor use due to the non-reflective surface.
The operation is laborious in view of only two existing keys, so Asus’ DisplayWidget should be installed first. With this software, all settings can be made comfortably with the mouse.
Verdict: 3rd Best Wireless Monitor System
The Asus ZenScreen MB16AC fulfills its purpose as a mobile monitor: it’s light and quite compact for its 15.6 inch size. Full HD is an absolutely sufficient resolution for this screen size and the image quality of the IPS panel convinces with rich colors and good contrasts. However, the monitor is not suitable for outdoor use due to its reflective surface. But still solid for the 3rd Best Wireless Monitor System.
The protective cover also functions as a practical stand; alternatively, an elongated object such as a pen can serve as such. Less practical, on the other hand, is the control via the two operating buttons. At least cramps in the fingers can be avoided with the help of the software.
Another advantage is that the mobile monitor only requires a USB cable for operation. An additional power connection, as in the Wimaxit Portable Display, would have increased the Asus ZenScreen’s range of functions and also allowed the use of mobile devices like smartphones. This is only possible with the ZenScreen Go MB16AP, which has an integrated battery to power the display.
Fourth Rank: Apple TV 4K
- Simple and fast operation
- Good speech recognition
- UHD films in very good quality
- Photo playback quality
- YouTube not yet in 4K
4th Best Wireless Monitor System
Of course Apple TV is only an adequate solution for users with Apple products like Macbooks, iPhones, or iPads thats why it is only ranking 4th in Best Wireless Monitor System. However, as there are many Apple users out there we do not want to hold back a great solution for wireless monitor systems for this user base. And Apple TV 4K solves the mobility problem in a great way.
Apple TV 4K (5th generation): That’s what’s in it
The fifth version of the streaming box comes with much more powerful hardware. As usual, Apple only reveals a few details: The device contains an A10X fusion chip – it also works in Apple’s iPad Pro. Furthermore, there are apparently 3 gigabytes of RAM and a new graphics chip in the box. Thus, the graphics performance of the streaming box improves considerably. The remote control works with Bluetooth and additionally with infrared to directly control the volume of a TV. Alternatively, this works via the HDMI cable, and the setup is easily done by following the instructions in the installation process.
Apple TV 4K: Easy setup and operation for the 4th Best Wireless Monitor System
On the remote control, the white ring around the menu button catches the eye. Otherwise, it resembles the predecessor model with the touchpad. Connected to the 4K TV, a quite extensive setup is done first. Many settings, such as the Apple ID or WLAN can fortunately be transferred from the iPhone, some of which have to be entered manually.
HDR is also requested: Apple tests whether the television is suitable for this. If picture dropouts occur or bright spots dance through the picture, the HDMI cable used is at its limit. If this is the case, you’ll be able to navigate through the menus pretty quickly – without any jerking or waiting times. 4K films are offered directly at the top of the store, but can also be found quickly using the voice search.
Amazing: If you select a film, the film starts running without any fuss. A longer buffering due to the large amount of data does not seem to take place in advance. Apart from the 4K-compatible video suppliers iTunes Store and Netflix, media library apps (e.g. ESPN or FOX Sports) are also available, sports fans should be happy about the apps from various Sport broadcasting networks.
Verdict: 4th Best Wireless Monitor System
Although not suited for everyone, Apple TV 4K is a great solution to stream movies or series on your TV monitor or projector. Amazing quality meets awesome user experience. If Apple TV were not limited to Apple users we would rank it on the first place.
Great performance overall for the fourth Best Wireless Monitor System.
Fifth Rank: NETGEAR Push2TV
- Great for presentations
- Good portability
- Easy to use
- Video quality
- Not the cheapest system
5th Best Wireless Monitor System
The Push2TV PTV 3000 streaming box from network specialist Netgear challenges Chrome Cast and Apple TV making it the 5th Best Wireless Monitor System. Photos and also music can be displayed on smart TVs with most current Android smartphones without any problems – thanks to DLNA. But if you want to send the complete screen content to your TV, you’ll have to find another way. With the Push2TV PTV3000, Netgear has brought a corresponding device onto the market.
Push2TV consists of a small box with a connection for power via USB as well as an HDMI output to the TV. The installation takes only one minute. As soon as the device is connected to the power supply and TV, Intel WiDi (Wireless Display) or Miracast Wireless Display must be activated on the smartphone. You can check whether your smartphone supports Miracast on the website of the Wifi-Alliance.
With our test device, a Moto X from Motorola Mobility, the connection with WiDi worked without problems. However, streaming the smartphone’s screen content to the TV worked differently well in the test. A slide show with photos of the smartphone ran smoothly and much faster than via DLNA. However, a certain delay between tapping the display and the change on the TV is still noticeable.
Verdict: 5th Best Wireless Monitor System
The device is very well suited for presentations in a business environment, slide shows are also possible without any problems and games on the TV are really fun if you can master blind typing on the smartphone. However, HD videos always bring the Push2TV to the edge of its performance. At least Netgear is working on solving these problems, new firmware versions are released again and again. In times of ever shorter product cycles, this does not matter of course.
All in all, it places on the fifth place in our Best Wireless Monitor System test.

All ScreenBeam products support the Wi-Fi certified Miracast standard, which simplifies setup and installation. So you can easily transfer any multimedia content from your mobile device to an HDTV.
